The Nisga'a Lisims Government has lifted a state of emergency in the communities of the Nass Valley that after Nisga'a Valley Health reported a steady decline in COVID-19 cases.
In an announcement released Friday afternoon, the Nisga'a Lisima Government Executive outlined how the Nisga'a Emergency Preparedness Committee met earlier today to discuss a potential extension of the Emergency measures; but with the steady decline in the COVID-19 case reports from Nisga'a health it was decided that no extension of measures was required.
The State of Emergency had been in place since November 26th.

While the State of Emergency has been lifted, Nisga'a officials have reminded residents of the Nass that they are still expected to follow all provincial health officer orders when it comes to COVID-19 restrictions, including the limiting of travel, wearing masks, avoiding large public and small house gatherings and to wash hands frequently.
In comments for todays announcement, President Eva Clayton noted: "We recognize adhering to these orders may be difficult especially with the Christmas season upon us. But we need to stay the course and remain in our bubbles, we will get through this pandemic"
The Nisga'a Nation now reverts back to Phase 2 of their Strategic Restart plan.
