With a dramatic increase of COVID cases now reported at Acropolis Manor, calls for a communication strategy for family members are heard

Wednesday saw a spike in the number of cases of COVID reported
at the Acropolis Manor long term care facility in Prince Rupert

The number of cases of COVID now reported from Acropolis Manor makes for a startling figure and a pretty strong example as to how fast this coronavirus can spread. 

That as Northern Health advises of 20 cases now reported from the Prince Rupert long term care facility, a jump of thirteen by this evening to go with the  initial count of seven from last night.

The latest review from Northern Health indicates that 16 residents and four staff members have been confirmed as having COVID.

With the spike in numbers and restrictions on visitation, some Prince Rupert residents are becoming a bit frustrated with the flow of information from Northern Health, with some expressing their concerns through a Social Media page set up by Northern Health specifically for Prince Rupert issues.

In response to some of the inquiries that have been made so far, Northern Healths Communications officials note that members of the Northern Health team are calling and corresponding with family members, though they note not everyone may have been contacted just yet.

Northern Health officials are asking for some patience at this moment and appeal to residents not to go to the Summit Avenue Manor unless it is part of a pre arranged essential visit.

While the Wednesday numbers are concerning, Northern Health had a busy day delivering vaccines to those staff members and residents who have not tested positive for COVID, no details on the volume of vaccines delivered today have been released by the health agency as of yet.
