Prince Rupert Author looks to find room on the local book shelf for debut work

Prince Rupert's ever growing literature scene has yet one more contributor this week, with local author And Chugh releasing his first book, Revelations. 

The graduate of Charles Hays Secondary and currently a second year university student with McGill University of Montreal has crafted his first person accounts from a range of interviews he has conducted in the community and from beyond Prince Rupert in recent years.

The nineteen year old author, who was member of the Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce mentorship program Rising Stars outlines his work as follows:

“This book is the result of trust that many remarkable people put in me as I dedicated myself to sharing their stories . I’m fascinated by people who reject apathy for a life of action and accomplishment. This book explores episodes of realization and transformation. I hope that by experiencing those lives vicariously, others are inspired and motivated."

The project which took place during the recent times of COVID and it's related state of isolation, allowed  Chugh to expand on his enthusiasm for writing and to learn more from those he interviewed, it was case of asking questions and then taking the reader on the journey of his subjects.

“With most of the interviews, I just asked a simple question then sat back and listened. These are people who are adept at describing their journey. My job was to distill it into written form.”

The first run of his work is now available at Eddies News in Prince Rupert, the local bookseller is a strong supporter of the local writing scene. 

The Second Avenue West location now host to a range of reading options from the growing roster of Prince Rupert are residents who have taken to print to share their themes of the North Coast region.

Beyond his print adventure, Mr. Chugh is also known around the city for his work with the Rainmakers Now initiative, an online forum which connected residents of the North Coast through the months of COVID.
