Add a Flood Watch to the weekend of warnings


Update: The previous High Stream Advisory has been upgraded to a Flood Watch by the River Forecast Centre, we have updated the notice listed below.

The approaching atmospheric river that will settle over the North Coast and move inland from today through to Monday, is bringing a range of weather alerts and warnings.

With Environment Canada adding to their advisory of yesterday, providing for an updated Weather Statement which continues to note of the prospect of up to 150mm of rainfall and winds of up to 80 kilometres  before the system has fully moved on.

The Coastal statement, shifts focus to a snow event for points in the Bulkley Valley east and north to Stewart for the weekend, with up to 20 cm of snow anticipated.

To add on to the list of advisories is a statement from the River Forecast Centre of the Ministry of Forests, Lands Natural Resources and Rural Development, which with a Flood Watch in effect, making note of the impact of the atmospheric river and what what may be expected for the Prince Rupert, Kitimat, Hartley Bay regions.

As the weather approaches, North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice has been using her Social media platform to provide updates for residents of the region.



At the municipal level, so far, the City of Prince Rupert however, has not outlined any notes of interest, or advisories, for those living within the city limits through any of their communication options.
