Hoping not to have local merchants lost in that crush of consumerism, today as it has in years past has been designated as Plaid Friday, with the local business community putting up their flag in the holiday shopping battles.
Locally, Love Prince Rupert is coordinating the Prince Rupert push back against the massive marketing of online and the large commercial operators, the organization highlighting how you can participate in some local love through their Social Media feed.
Towards today's campaign, they outlined the approach they take, what they hope to realize and how you can participate.
Every year, Love Prince Rupert takes part in a Plaid Friday campaign. This campaign is designed to support local independent business owners.
The goal of Plaid Friday is to have consumers spend their dollars locally, to have some fun wearing plaid and to celebrate the diversity and creativity of local and independent businesses in their communities.
Keep an eye out for contests and sales starting this Friday November 26th.
