Another Oversize Load set to Hit Northwest Roads this week

What has become a bit of a Northwest attraction will
be on the road again this week as an industrial 
shipment bound for the Peace Country departs Prince Rupert

Highway contractors and Ministry of Transportation officials are alerting travellers along the Highway 16 corridor of another Large Oversize Load transit to take place, with Thursday the departure date from Prince Rupert for an industrial load destined for the Peace Country and the Site C dam construction project.

In an advisory issued on Tuesday, the path of the transit from Prince Rupert on the 17th to Prince George on the 18th was outlined through to Friday, the eastbound transit is noted as weather dependent.

The transit this week makes for the latest in what has been a steady supply of components for the Hydro Electric dam project in the Peace Country, with the key industrial elements arriving by ship at Prince Rupert and then prepared for what is a major logistics exercise across the Northern half of British Columbia.

The transit has also made for somewhat of a viral moment for the communities that the convoy passes through, with social media feeds sharing video of the vehicles as they make their way along Highway 16.
