North Pacific Cannery Historical Site makes plans for return in Spring of 2022

There hasn't been much heard of late on the planning for 2022 for North Pacific Cannery Historical Site,  Port Edward's top tourist attraction and one this on the list for many visitors to Prince Rupert.

But things do seem to be moving forward, with the District of Port Edward recently making note that after two years of closure, North Pacific is now working towards plans for a Spring opening.

That news from the District is a welcome step towards more normal times, but there are no doubt some challenges ahead for the Historical Site since it last was open to the public in the 2019 tourism season.

One will be actually getting to the site, with BC Transit having announced that service will no longer be extended from Port Edward out to the location along Inverness Passage. Something which could use a little creative thought from officials both in Port Edward and the Region towards addressing to bring out as many potential visitors as possible.

While the planning moves forward, the first bit of work should be a bit of a refresh for the North Pacific website and an update for their Social Media streams which haven't seen much in the way of new information since last fall.

In November, North Pacific posted a Job Opening for a General Manager, that post one required to replace former GM Anne Leach who departed the region with her husband Rick in the fall of 2021.

According to the North Pacific Cannery website, they will soon be announcing more jobs to come, with a call for employees for this spring staffing requirements, you can watch for those job opportunities here.
