It's almost time for Softball with the Prince Rupert Minor Softball Association looking for a May 1st start |
If the weather Gods cooperate and the fields are ready, Minor Softball players will take to the Doug Kerr Field on May 1st with the 2023 season set for a two month run for Prince Rupert and Port Edward youth.
The Association just wrapped up their Registration period and Registrar/Treasurer Dan Lorette counts 125 youth ready to take to the field for another year, down just a few from a year ago for those ready to play in six divisions from Under 7 to Under 17.
Spring training of sorts is currently underway at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre, the sessions making for a period of tutorial for the players so they can hit the field running at the start of may.
The PRMSA outlined the field allocation for 2023 earlier this month, with play taking place Mondays through Thursdays, mindful of the Minor Soccer program in the city, the Softball Association has done its best to avoid conflicts, which allows for more activity for the youth of the community.
