Weekend for running/walking events for Prince Rupert and Port Edward

Northern Savings hosted the 2023 Terry Fox Run in Prince Rupert on
Sunday, serving as the start and finish line as well as the venue for the
post run celebrations

Sunday found a good number of Prince Rupert residents working on their best Fox Trot, as the popular fundraising event for the Terry Fox Foundation took place in Prince Rupert.

Northern Savings hosted the community event, with the Third Avenue West head office serving as the start and finish line for the Run that took participants along Mariner's Park, the Cow Bay Area down George Hills Way as part of the 3km route,

For those looking for the longer route, there was the 7 km run that transited the Rushbrook Trail to the Seal Cove Salt marsh and then back to the downtown core.

The day certainly didn't look like a welcome one for a run, the morning period more of a November vibe than a late summer experience, but the Sun pushed aside the clouds for the 1PM start and those that made their journey before 2PM managed to avoid the return of the rain.

Those still in transit would be a little damp upon their arrival at the Credit Union for some snacks from Arabisk, cheered on by a live remote from  CFNR.

Also of note from the Terry Fox run this month is an update on some of the work of former Prince Rupert resident Jim Terrion, the Northern BC resident now calls Prince George home, but has continued to be one of the most impressive fund raisers that the Terry Fox Foundation has.

Mayor Herb Pond provided him with a welcome home shout out over the weekend, noting of his ongoing fundraising in this community.

The Prince George Citizen recently featured some of his recent achievements, with profile piece.

Monday afternoon, Northern Savings had updated their notes on Sunday's event observing of the 70 participants, 20 volunteers and providing for a selection of photos of some of the special guests that had dropped by during the Terry Fox Run in Prince Rupert.
