RCMP across BC ready to turn on their "Christmas Lights" as part of Counter attack Impaired driving program

Impaired driving across BC

Tis the season for holiday merrymaking, and if social events are on your Holiday period list, a reminder from the BC Highway Patrol and RCMP detachments across the province that The Counter Attack program on Impaired Driving launches this weekend.

In an information release this morning the RCMP provided a glimpse into what motorists can expect to see through the month long enforcement campaign.

"To kick off the Winter Impaired Driving Enforcement Campaign, police will Light up the Province, throughout the evening of Saturday, December 2. 

Motorists across BC can expect to see an enhanced level of impaired driving enforcement via impaired driving check stops coupled with a heightened police presence targeting impaired drivers. 

While December 2 will have a large contingent of officers conducting road checks for impaired driving, police will remain on enhanced impaired driving enforcement through December. 

 You can absolutely expect to see police enforcement if you choose to drive impaired by alcohol and/or drugs. To avoid this plan ahead and choose a safe ride home. " -- Chief Superintendent Holly Turton, Officer in Charge of BC Highway Patrol. 

Like detachments across BC, the Prince Rupert Detachment of the RCMP will be ramping up their enforcement program through December and into January. 

As part of their work towards reducing the dangers of impaired driving,  you can expect to see roadside check stops through this month around the community.
