One of the top attractions for locals residents and visitors to the North Coast has launched its quest for a new General Manager, with the North Pacific Cannery Historical Site recently placing advertisements for the position.
The employment opportunity will fill the position recently vacated by the departure of Lesley Moore who left the Historical site in September.
Operated by the Port Edward Historical Society, North Pacific has evolved over the years into a high profile attraction for the region and the guardian of much of the history from more than a century of fishing industry activity on the North Coast.
The search for a replacement will provide for the sole full time, year round employee on the site.
The Management of the site is the prime focus during the period of the year from May to September when North Pacific is Open to the public. Though there are many other aspects of the work ahead for the successful applicant
Among some of the duties for the General Manager, the management of all site operations, implementation of approved capital projects and operating budgets, as well as expanding awareness and recognition of the historical site.
Other areas to be considered by the selection committee include the ability to secure funding through grant applications and sponsorships, developing ongoing support for programs related to the history of salmon canning on the North Coast and maintaining open lines of communication with the Board of Directors.
