Metlakatla Development Corporation pitches in with Trinity House

Prince Rupert's Supportive Housing Residence, Trinity House on 11th Avenue East has been the beneficiary of some financial support from the community this week, with the Metlakatla Development Corporation providing the facility with a 25,000 dollar donation towards its operations.

The cash infusion for the facility that provides addiction recovery assistance to men in the community, was approved by the Board of Directors of the Metlakatla Development Corporation in early July.

In a statement on the financial assistance for Trinity,  Metlakatla Development Corporation CEO Harold Leighton took note of the how the new facility is filling in a long time void for the larger regional community.

“For too many years there was nowhere in the northwest men could go to get the help they need on their journey to sobriety and nowhere those returning from treatment could go to have a safe and supportive environment as they transitioned back into the community. Trinity House has filled that gap and the work they do will make a significant difference in the lives of many,”

The Metlakatla Development Corporation has been a strong supporter of the concept of Trinity House since it was first discussed as a possibility, and with their financial commitment of this week, Trinity House operator Willy Beaudry took note of how it will help with the work ahead.

“Trinity House has had good success in assisting residents through their recovery and transition back into the community during its early operation, which is a credit to the hard work of our volunteers, directors, advisory council, North Coast Social Issues Society (NCSIS) and the commitment of the men at Trinity House. Donations like the one received today from the Metlakatla Development Corporation will only help our program grow in the months and years ahead,”

Trinity House Recovery, 333 11th Avenue East in Prince Rupert

The Trinity House  facility which is located at 333 11th Avenue East was approved by Prince Rupert City Council in March of this year and has been providing support services ever since, providing for a much needed resource in the community.
