City to seek bids for more work for Earl Mah Aquatic centre
Now that the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre has its shiny new hot tub in place and in use, the City's recreation department is looking to knock another item off the to do list for the facility on McBride Street.
This week the City has posted a request for Proposals on the BC Bid site that is seeking a design for a new aquatic disinfection system, the City noting in its call for proposals that they are considering a conversion from the current system that is in place to an alternative system.
The Scope of the submission process features eight areas of note for would be respondents, with the early focus to be directed towards:
Perform a study and assessment. As necessary, review available background information and information pertinent to various site conditions that would help in conducting the study/assessment effectively; collaborate with City staff to ensure a recommendation that meets operational requirements
Submit to the City detailed recommendations for a new disinfection system for review and approval; a comparison of multiple options is preferred with consideration for installation cost, operating cost, and worker safety.
From that starting point, among some of the other requirements of the bid request, the city is requesting a conceptual design, construction cost estimate and the submission of a Final Report for review.
To this point, there is no fixed timeline for when the City would start the project, or when it would be expected to be completed. The city is hosting an Information meeting for proponents on November 14th at the Earl Mah Aquatic Centre, the call for bids will end on November 23rd.
The full prospectus for the proposed work can be found on the BC Bid site.
