Prince Rupert's Nautical Welcome Wagon celebrates the first arrival of the Captain Haddock
The Port of Prince Rupert recently welcomed a new vessel to the North Coast, with the Marshall Islands' flagged shipping vessel the Captain Haddock making its first port call on Prince Rupert.
Not a lot is known about the Captain Haddock, the Marine Traffic website which tracks the world of shipping and features photos of the vessel has but rudimentary notes on the ship, noting that it was completed and launched earlier this year.
The latest of ocean going cargo vessels has a length of 199 metres and is 32 metres wide, as it travels if features a draught of 6.8 metres.
As they do with every first arrival, the Port sent out their version of the Welcome Wagon to the vessel, this time in the form of Captain Bernie Egan, who presented Captain Gianneios Christos with a plaque in recognition of the maiden voyage of the Captain Haddock to Prince Rupert.
The plaque features a reproduction of Bill Helin's Journey of Raven Song illustration, learn more about his works of art here.
According to the Prince Rupert Port Authority ships movements listings, the vessel is calling on Prince Rupert Grain.
The Fleet Monitor website also pegs the vessel at dock at the Grain Terminal.
When the Captain Haddock departs within the next few days it will be on a journey across the Pacific charting a course to the Chinese port of Lushun.
You can learn more about the port call in Prince Rupert from the Port's facebook page.
