Prince Rupert's Coastal Training Centre is making preparations to offer a 32 week training program for those looking to enter the Health Care field, with applications now being taken for the Health Care Assistant Program to be offered at the Sixth Avenue West facility.
The HCA program is designed to prepare individuals to work as front-line health care providers in a variety of community and institutional settings.
Those that take the program will learn the skills required to function both independently as Health Care workers as well as members of a Health Care team.
Among the entrance requirements for the program are:
High School Graduation or Mature Student status, with a minimum of English 10 or equivalent and Math 10 or equivalent.
Standard First Aid with CPR level C
BC Food Safe Certificate - Level 1
Proof of negative TB skin test
Solicitor General Criminal Record Search
Updated immunizations
The health care field features some of the highest rates of employment in the province and upon successful completion on the Coastal Training program, graduates will be able to seek employment in that career path.
