City Work crews continue to play whack a mole with city streets

this morning reducing traffic to one lane for a section of Fifth Avenue East

A new day a new hole seems to be the theme for City of Prince Rupert work crews, who today began to tear up a section of Fifth Avenue East between McBride and Bowser Street,  reducing some of the travel to one lane, with the traffic flow controlled by flag persons.

The City has yet to post any kind of advisory on the situation to any of their message making services, but it appears to be related to the water infrastructure, as City crews were pumping a collection of debris out of the hole through the afternoon.

The work on Fifth East is just the latest of infrastructure challenges that work crews are taking on as repairs become more and more prevalent.

As we outlined on Friday, the work on11th Avenue East which started at the end of September continues on, with the water repairs now complete, but the City still to finish off the back fill and paving work.

11th Avenue has seen a return to two way traffic, however there are speed reductions and lane cones in place around the work site.
