BC Conservation Officer Service in Prince Rupert on wolf calls
With a growing number of wolf related calls to the BC Conservation Office, the provincial service has sent officers to Prince Rupert this week to investigate and act on any incidents that may be reported during their stay.
As we outlined last week, with the arrival of spring, the number of interactions between wildlife and residents have been on the increase, a situation noted by the Conservation Officer Service last week.
In recent weeks Prince Rupert residents have called in encounters on local trails, in wooded areas of the city and in some instances encroachment into the residential sections of the community.
And while the Terrace based officers currently on patrol in Prince Rupert have not reported on any wolf incidents in the last 24 hours, they did make note of a deer rescue that they participated in on Monday evening, untangling a deer and setting if free from some wire it had become entangled in.
The Officers remind residents about the need for awareness of their surroundings and to eliminate any attractants that may be around their property that could lead to some unwanted encounters.
Should you have a concern about wolves or other wildlife incidents, you are asked to make a report through their RAPP program.
To make a report call their 24 Hour Hotline at 1-877-952-RAPP
