With more whales surfacing in Pacific waters, the Port asks for reports

Whale watching could bring some surprises this summer 
around North Coast waters

The summer is proving to be one of some excitement for whale watching, with a number of reports now getting some review of a growing number of whale sightings, with this week providing note of the sighting of a rare version of the species as researchers aboard a Canadian Coast Guard vessel spotted a large volume of Sei Whales off Vancouver Island last week.

With the summer months active ones for whale sightings, the Prince Rupert Port Authority is reminding those on the water around the North Coast of the range of programs that they are involved with when it comes to marine mammals.

Included on the list is the Whale Report Alert System which provides real time information for professional marines and vessel captains and reduces the prospects of any interactions.

Later this month you can get some first hand information about the marine life of the North Coast, that is when the North Coast Ecology Society will set up their Pop Up Ecology Centre, set for the Northland Cruise Terminal space from July 21st to August 15th.
