Lot clearing work on Second Avenue West nears completion

More land clearing is underway this week on Second Avenue West

What has been a week long project so far towards clearing a prime piece of land in the downtown core continues on, with some additional demolition work on the block at Second Avenue West and Second Street to keep excavators busy.

The latest milestone for the project that of having recently taken down the long familiar Large medical clinic that was adjacent to the site, now opening up much of the lot along the south side of Second West from the old Mohawk station to the Ocean Centre. 

The Rubble of the weekend long gone now, with the work taking on elements of the foundation for the old two storey office and residential structure in the core.

We first made note of the fast paced activity last week and followed up again with the Metlakatla First Nation property owners for an update on the work.

Shaun Thomas, Communications Manager noted that the work at the moment is that of cleaning and clearing for future use, but that there are no plans in motion for development at the moment.
