Opening up a bit more space in Downtown Prince Rupert

Down it comes ... another structure along Second West will soon
be no more as workers take down the old Farewest Fuels garage

For those who haven't been into the downtown core in the last few days, by day's end you may notice something is missing along Second Avenue West.

Thursday found an excavator making quick work of the demolition of the old Farwest Bus Lines Garage structure in the 200 Block of the city's main traffic corridor.

The use of the property as a Bus facility is long into the city's past, owned by the Metlakatla First Nation it currently serves as the host venue for the Kaien Island Urban Farm located on the western side of the same lot.

The North Coast Review has submitted a correspondence to the Metlakatla First Nation to determine what may be ahead for the prime piece of real estate in the downtown core, should we receive a response we'll update our notes on the work of today.

More notes related to Metlakatla themes is available from our archive page.
