Zones Weekend set to launch for Charles Hays Senior Boys Rainmakers

A shot at the Provincial Championship is on the line this weekend as four teams take to the court in Terrace for the Senior Boy's Zones Competition, the final step in the basketball season before the big show in Langley of March.

For Prince Rupert basketball fans the rooting interest will be with the Charles Hays Rainmakers who tip off in the icebreaker to the Zones tournament at Noon when they take on Hazelton.

Two hours later it will be Smithers and host Caledonia into the mix setting the stage for how the tournament will shape up through to Sunday if required.

Later tonight, the losers of the two early games will meet at 6PM, while the two winning sides of the afternoon action will showcase their skills at 8PM.

The action picks up again on Saturday, with the winner of the 8PM game awaiting their challenger for what could be the Championship match at 6:30 PM.

Though if necessary a Sunday game could be required.

It has been a challenging year for high school basketball programs across the northwest, with few opportunities to build on their skills through competition owing to the COVID measures in place.

This weekends' tournament making for one of the few experiences where more than two teams can be in the same venue for competition.

We'll update the Rainmaker's travels as the scores are made available,
