Blog watching: Week ending February 20, 2022

COVID made for a number of themes when it comes to the most read items for he last seven days.

By far the most read item of the week was our look at a social media message for the followers of Mayor Lee Brain, who offered up his views on a number of elements of the COVID debate including employment mandates, government over reach and his concerns over never ending biometric identification systems.

As the Mayor's comments made for some extensive commentary on his Facebook page, the latest results on the pace of COVID in the Northwest was released and that too made for much of the way of interest over the week.

The final of three COVID related items that capture the attention of our readers, was the announcement earlier this week of the province's evolving COVID strategy and the removal on limits on Gatherings and Events.

Our look at a call for applicants for the Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue Service also found a large audience, as did our short video presentation of some demolition work that took place in the downtown core this week.

However, it was Mr. Brain's social media ministrations that made for the most read item for the week.

Mayor Lee Brain wades into the debate on Pandemic themes and federal mandates through lengthy commentary on his Social Media page --  Prince Rupert Mayor Lee Brain, took on the topic of the week that has roiled the nation, offering up a stream of commentary on COVID issues and COVID mandates through the forum he usually uses to focus on his civic initiatives. An online interjection that did gain much applause from his large base of followers, but also gained some significant push back from some in the community who did not find much to applaud from his contribution to the debate.     (posted February 16, 2022)
