City looks to increase their fleet of Refuse collection vehicles

With the new Curbside Recycling program underway, the City of Prince Rupert is looking to expand on the number of vehicles that they can use for the collection of refuse, posting a new Request for Proposals to the BC Bid website last week.

The City provided a short overview of their quest as part of the Bid Process.

The City of Prince Rupert is seeking quotes from qualified proponents for procurement of a Super Curbster Refuse Truck. The City of Prince Rupert currently operates a curbside pickup program within the City limits for the collection of solid waste, and has implemented a curbside recycling program.

The successful proponent will procure the City with a collection vehicle which serves and improves the City's existing collection practices while enabling further upgrades in the future.

Three elements make for the scope of the RFP for the Super Curbster Truck that was issued on Friday.

The services will comprise procurement and delivery of products and services for the Project including, without limiting:

(i) Supply and delivery of a New Super Curbster Refuse Truck, as specified in Part F;

(ii) Provision of a training and support plan; and,

(iii) Provision of an equipment warranty and parts and servicing plan all to be carried out with consideration being given to a focus on value to the City and Project budget.

Assistant Operations Minister Jose Shares is watching over the bid process for the purchase.

The RFP includes an expansive list of what the city is looking for in their new vehicle which you can review from the BC Bid Webiste

The Timeline for the bid is as follows:
