Blog Watching: Week ending February 13, 2022

It's frequently mentioned as one of the more prominent annoyances for city residents and a social media message from the city with some friendly parking reminders for the community, provided for the forum for a bit of parking venting this week.

That theme made for the top item of our list of Five most read items of the week, with a few other municipal themes capturing interest as well, including news related to the search for a new Officer in Charge for the RCMP in the city.

The 2021 Census results provided for a slight increase in the number of residents calling Prince Rupert home, and maybe a few of them are boiling water or buying up some bottled water, that after the first Water Advisory for 2022 from the City.

The final item that captured the interest of readers this week also focused on Municipal politics, with an announcement Councillor Blair Mirau that he will not be seeking a third term of office this fall.

However, the most read item for the week channels some of the frustration of residents when it comes to the always controversial themes of parking.

Prince Rupert gains uptick of residents with latest release of census data from Statistics Canada --   Over the course of the last five years, Prince Rupert realized an increase of 80 residents, a reversal of the trends of almost a decade. Blair Mirau to step away from municipal politics at end of term -- Two term Prince Rupert City Councillor Blair Mirau, who entered municipal politics as the youngest elected official in civic history, has decided and annoucned that he will not seek a third term   .(posted February 8, 2022)
