An upward move for KJ Millar with the local paper |
They'll be printing up some more business cards at the Black Press outpost in Prince Rupert, with word today that KJ Millar has been promoted to the post of Editor for the local weekly publication, the shift in job duties coming just over two weeks after Melissa Ash was named as publisher.
The advisory posted to the Northern View website and social media stream today, provides a bit of a resume of Ms. Millar's path to the Editor's position, along with her view on how the paper will evolve under her stewardship.
Today's announcement also points toward the progress of female leadership for Black Press locally.
Included in the update was the new editor's view towards what is described as editorial content that "draws readers together and engages the lives of North Coast residents".
Ms. Millar also hints towards a "new editorial format and story content" to come.
How that new blue print will be developed was not expanded on as part of today's notification of the staffing upgrade.
While Ms. Millar moves up on the depth chart, there is no mention as to whether this clears the way for reporter Norman Galimski to now shift from his term position as Journalism initiative hire, to that of a full time post with Black Press.
