The Scotch Cap eyesore is no more in Port Edward |
The near six week long process of the removal of the Scotch Cap at the Port Edward Boat Launch has come to an end, with the District announcing the reopening of the popular and much used facility as of today.
As we noted in January, the project was taken on by the Prince Rupert Port Authority and required dis-assembly of the abandoned vessel, one of two derelict vessels that crashed ashore during extreme weather in 2021.
With work now complete on the Scotch Cap, the District continues to push forward towards gaining the attention of Federal officials towards removal of the MV Fairwind.

In 160 days, Port Edward council and administration responded to a disaster by working with various levels of government, building and tendering an RFP, selecting a suitable party for remediation who delivered and completed the project on time and on budget.

While I get the gist of your theme, it should be noted much of this demolition was driven by the Port, which was the agency that posted the RFP for the work
