Officials with the District of Port Edward are inviting residents of the community to take a look at their 2022 Budget and Five year Financial plan and weigh in with comments if they have any towards the financial blue print.
The package which has been delivered to Homes in the District and is available online includes a correspondence from Mayor Bjorndall that leads into the financial package up for review.
Among some of the notes of interest for community residents is an acknowledgement of the financial hit the District has taken by way of Changes to the Ridley Island Tax Sharing program, though the Mayor notes that could be partially balanced off by the prospect of new industrial development ahead.
The Port Edward Council has also put a priority on roads in the community, the creation of an Asset Management Reserve Fund, along with desire to keep the District affordable for residents, noting that there will be no increase on residential taxation in the District, with the Mayor observing that residents most likely will be paying the same as last year when residential tax bills arrive.
Housing development in the community is also a key focus for the review, with the Mayor noting of the work ongoing towards the Alder Avenue housing plans as well as a future desire to see housing developed at the former school site on Sunset Drive.
