The quest for funding from a range of groups from a number of funding sources will be the focus for a good part of tonight's City Council Session.
With six different groups or organizations asking for a letter of support for their efforts from Prince Rupert City Council.
The parade of requests for letters of support is listed on the Council Agenda for tonight and will look as follows:
Prince Rupert Tourism
The local Tourism organization is applying to the Northern Development Initiative Trust's Marketing Initiatives Program to support the development of a new, more robust visitor website. They are looking for a letter from Council to aid their efforts.
Supporters of Odd Eidsvik Community Park
In their request, they note how a group of citizens have joined together with a tight working group with the goal of improving the local Community Park. In their correspondence four Council they note that with the increase of young families blending in with the aging population in the area that they would like to see the neighbourhood park improved. Towards that the note that they have held meetings and have put together a strategy and tactics to formulate a plan for the area.
They are looking for support from Council towards their work with the Rick Hansen Foundation on the Atlin Avenue area park and their quest for funding from the Prince Rupert Port Authority Community Investment Fund.
Oldfield Creek Fish Hatchery
The Hatchery is seeking the city's support by letter towards their work in accessing funding for the local facility through the Port of Prince Rupert's Skeena River Salmon Enhancement Grant
Friendship House Association of Prince Rupert
The Friendship House is asking for a letter of support towards planned improvements for the preschool playground area to transform the area to a Children's Discovery Garden. Towards those efforts, they will be applying to the Prince Rupert Port Authority's Community Investment Fund
Prince Rupert Golf Club
The city's golfing community is asking for a letter of support toward their plans for Revitalization and Accessibility Project, among the avenues they are pursuing for funding of their work is funding from Pembina Energy and a proposal to apply for a Grant through the Prince Rupert Port Authority's Community Investment Fund
Snow Valley Nordic Ski Club
The Kitimat based outdoors club is asking for a letter of support for their funding quest with Port of Prince Rupert Community Investment Fund and a fund hosted by the Northern Development Initiative Trust. They note for Council as to how their facility is used by many residents of the Northwest including those from Prince Rupert.
