COVID data shows Terrace, Prince Rupert 1st and 2nd in case counts for the week of Jan 30-Feb 5

Wednesday's data release from the BC CDC, finds some positive trends for the Bulkley Valley where Smithers has seen continued declines in their COVID reports dropping once again for the second straight week to a new level of 52 cases.

While the Bulkley Valley drops in total cases, the two largest communities of the Northwest saw an increase for the week 

Terrace which continues to now host the highest count saw a slight increase from the 86 of last week and is now marked at 99 for the reporting period of January 30 to February 5.

Prince Rupert also saw slight uptick of six this week, with 85 the new total of cases for the last seven days.

Haida Gwaii has also recorded a spike in the cases counts, now noting 15 over the last week, up from the six recorded last week.

Of note elsewhere, Nechako, Bella Coola, Central Coast saw declines, Kitimat an increase.

The full review across the region for the week of January 30 to February 5  from the BC CDC looks as follows:

Terrace -- 99 cases
Prince Rupert -- 85 cases
Smithers -- 52 cases
Nechako -- 48  cases 
Kitimat --  47 cases
Upper Skeena --  17 cases
Burns Lake -- 15 cases
Haida Gwaii -- 15  cases 
Nisga'a Region -- 3 cases
Bella Coola Valley --  2 cases
Snow Country-Stikine- Telegraph Creek --  2 cases
Central Coast -- 1 case


Wednesday's provincial report lists  191 new cases of COVID for Northern Health,  with 1,119 Active cases.  The active cases count marks an increase from a week ago.

For the Northern Health Region in total as of Wednesday, 35 patients are listed as in hospital which is up 4 from last week,  with 16 noted as in Critical Care, an increase of four from seven days ago.

The  breakdown of hospitalizations by community in the Northern Health region is not included in the data release information.
