Flooding conditions close Highway 16 between Terrace and Prince Rupert

 

Flooding between Terrace and Prince Rupert has closed Highway 16

Update:Highway 16 was re-opened to traffic Wednesday, evening however there is single lane alternating traffic, with delay of up to twenty minutes currently of note. 

The next update on the road situation is anticipated for 10PM.

The heavy volume of rain experienced today has resulted in flooding along Highway 16, with Drive BC issuing a Road Closure notice this afternoon between Terrace and Prince Rupert, the current time frame for the road closure is for two hours, with the next update on conditions expected at 5PM this evening.

The Facebook page Highway 16 Conditions is currently hosting a number of photos and videos related to the conditions along the route.

The heavy rains of this morning are anticipated to slow as the evening arrives and the current weather system continues its way to the east.
