Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue puts out the Help Wanted sign, though with a curious addendum

What makes for a rare opportunity to join the Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue Department, has just been announced,  with the City of Prince Rupert Posting a Firefighter position  to the City's Labour listings this morning.

In addition to the Job posting making note of the extensive list of requirements for consideration, it also includes some background information related to the duties and working conditions for Relief Fire Fighters.

The latest job positing is the first to make any prominent mention of the Relief Fire-fighter MOU, all of which would seem to suggest that the path towards full time firefighter status with the City now is realized through an initial period as Relief Firefighter.

A possible shift in policy perhaps that City Council members may wish to discuss and share some thoughts on at the next City Council session at the end of this month.

You can review the full information package here.

The Deadline for applications is March 3rd, 2022

As with all recent City of Prince Rupert job postings, the City's COVID vaccination policy is in effect.

  1. What happened to the auxiliary fire fighter program. Volunteer firefighters. These used to be the stepping stones to a job with the department?
