It's an all hands on deck session ahead for today as Premier Horgan, Health Minister Adrian Dix and Public Health Officer, Doctor Bonnie Henry take to a 1:30 PM briefing that many in Victoria are suggesting will chart the next steps in the province's COVID plans and perhaps some guidance on the prospects for relaxation or possibly even the elimination of some of the current Public Health measures in place.
The British Columbia update comes today as other provinces have been hosting their own briefings that have seen a range of measures fall by the wayside.
Some like Alberta and Saskatchewan on a fast track, tossing much of their restrictions aside, others such as Ontario going a little bit slower but picking up the pace towards eliminating some of the most controversial of the measures in place.
The elimination of the measures comes amid much of the tumult across the country and in particular in the nations capital as protests put the debate onto a high boil in many areas.
Though it's pretty clear now that the three weeks of push back originally said to be related to vaccine mandates, does appear to have morphed well beyond that and to embrace a number of other political themes.
Some of them rather concerning and alarming in scope, all of which has made for a rather remarkable period in recent Canadian history.
Yesterday, British Columbia updated the COVID picture from the weekend with 2,701 new cases reported over the three days of the reporting period, currently there are 803 British Columbians in hospital with COVID, 119 are in intensive care, 17 residents died of the coronavirus over the weekend.
The anticipation of some progress towards reversing some of the measures comes as the vaccination rate in the province continues to increase, though the current pace of vaccination has seen a significant slow down since last fall.
Today's information update starts at 1:30 PM and will be streamed live through he BC Government's Facebook page.
