This week has brought a new case file related to a growing number of cases related to weapons, cash and drugs being seized in the Northwest, this time, coming from Haida Gwaii.

During the past week, Masset RCMP  shared some background into an investigation that dates back to December of last year, with members acting on a search warrant in late January.

In their information release, the BC North District outlined the scope of the investigation, which now is in the hands of the BC Prosecution Service.

In December of 2021, Masset RCMP received information of possible drug trafficking in the community.

On Thursday, January 27, 2022 police observed a vehicle leaving a residence suspected to be involved. After a short stay the vehicle was stopped by police. The passenger, an adult woman, was arrested after police found suspected cocaine.

With evidence gathered over the course of the investigation, a search warrant was issued for the residence and on Friday, January 28, 2022, police executed the search warrant.

When police attended the residence, six people, four men and two women, were located inside. Police located a significant amount of suspected drugs, cash, drug paraphernalia, loaded firearms & ammunition.

All individuals were later released.

The investigation is ongoing and will be forwarded to BC Prosecution Services for review.

Should anyone have anything further to add to the investigation, the Masset RCMP can be reached at 250-626-3991
