MP Taylor Bachrach to host Virtual Community Forum on Bus Travel in Northwest BC

The BC Bus North  heading out of Prince Rupert, MP
Taylor Bachrach would like to see a national service
introduced to provide transportation across Canada

The state of bus transportation in Northwest BC and how to improve on the options will be the focus for a Virtual Town Hall forum hosted by Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach, with the MP making plans to host the Zoom session on February 22nd.

The theme of the session has been the focus of a home mailing campaign this week with the MP relaying his plans through a correspondence that comes with your daily mail.

His review includes some of the history of the past Greyhound service and while noting of the helpful option of the BC Bus North in recent years, the MP is expanding his call towards having a National Public Bus Service introduced across the country.

His forum for the northwest will seek a discussion on the topic in the region as well as to make note of a petition that is presently open until March 9th to seek better transportation options for the nation.

  1. Greyhound ceased operations in Western Canada in 2018. Canadians have managed, without a national network. Uber, Lift, and other ride sharing options have filled that gap.

    At a riding level, throw a federal subsidy at BC Bus North to expand their services and refocus on other priorities.

    Such as;

    - telecom infrastructure and investment, eight years and no end to end cell coverage on HWY 16?
    - Rural cannabis producers, will the federal government ever ensure they are compliant?
    - Rail safety, but with a focus on rail line and system tampering which is illegal and dangerous. In addition to putting themselves at risk, people who engage in such actions are endangering railway workers, Canadas reputation as a reliable trading partner and train passengers, as well as the communities around them.
