Weekly COVID report from BC CDC, puts Prince Rupert at Zero cases for last week

BC CDC Data on COVID for June 5-11


The latest results on COVID reports from the BC CDC continues to be encouraging across the Northwest, with Prince Rupert and a number of other communities marking zero on the weekly chart.

This week's report for the period of June 5- 11 saw Prince Rupert, Upper Skeena, Nisga'a, Snow Country-Stikine, Nechako, Bella Coola Valley and Central Coast all record no cases of COVID for the survey period.

The numbers for all other regions f the Northwest are in single digits, with Haida Gwaii the one area of note with the high count for the region of four.

The highest numbers listed in Northern British Columbia's continue to come from its largest community, with Prince George recording a case count of 24 in the period which is an increase of three case reports from last week.

The full review across the region for the week of June 5-11  from the BC CDC looks as follows:

Kitimat -- 1 case
Central Coast --  0 cases
Nisga'a Region --  0 cases
Nechako --  0 cases

Snow Country-Stikine-Telegraph Creek --  0 cases
Prince Rupert -- 0 cases

The Provincial Data Review also featured declines in most areas other than reported deaths, with the details as follows:

726 New Cases, with 276 hospitalized, 19 in Critical Care and 50 new deaths from COVID reported. The total number of deaths in BC since the start of the coronavirus is 3,682 to date.

There have been 373,336 cases of COVID recorded in the province since the arrival of the pandemic

As of June 16 the Province had distributed 12,645,064 first, second or booster shots of the COVID Vaccine, with a fourth booster program for specific groups underway.

Thursday's provincial report lists  44 new cases of COVID for the Northern Health region for the reporting week. That makes for a total of 30,333 cases recorded since the start of the pandemic.

Of note again, this week is the decline in hospitalizations and those in critical care.

For the Northern Health Region in total as of Thursday,  11 patients are listed as in hospital, with  Zero noted as in Critical Care, the Northern Health region recorded  3 deaths this week, the Northern Health total of deaths attributed to COVID is listed as 356 since the start of the pandemic.

The  breakdown of hospitalizations by community in the Northern Health region is not included in the data release information.
