Satellite imagery from Environment Canada shows that Prince Rupert and the Northwest will just miss the full impact of an Atmospheric River to arrive Saturday |
Prince Rupert and the Northwest are facing a weekend of rain and some snow further inland, but our weather weekend will be gentle compared to the full on hit that is set to reach the southwest parts of the province.
For us, it's rain and wind through the weekend and much of next week, with weekend rainfall totals to come in around 120 mm by Monday.
To the south an Atmospheric River is set to bring up to 300mm of rainfall staring tomorrow, with the province altering residents of Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland of the potential for flooding in some areas.
The Provincial advisory notes of the lengthy duration for the weather event which will continue to impact the region until Wednesday.
The River Forecast Centre Map notes of Flood Watches for those areas and a High Steam Advisory for much of the Central Coast to just south of Prince Rupert.
Flood concerns have been relayed for Vancouver Island and the Greater Vancouver area this weekend |
