City has few remedies to offer for Wayne Place residents on noise concerns

The issue of noise concerns for residents of Wayne Place will be the
focus of a Report to Council for tonight's Council Session

The residents of Wayne Place likely won't be thrilled with the findings of a report to Council related to their recent petition on noise concerns near their residences.

With Council to review the findings from Corporate Officer Rosa Miller at tonight's meeting that doesn't provide for much more for the city to do on the topic.

The Report was in response to the March 25th Council appearance by a delegation from the Seniors residences who catalogued a number of their concerns related to idling trucks and other noise and smell complaints in the immediate area, including the Rupert Square parking lot.

As is noted in the report, that appearance by the representatives of the Group, was just the latest relay of concerns about the situation in the area.

The document for Council to review also charts the nature of the complaints, as well as the research that city staff conducted towards the topic, noting that the city has received a willingness from the companies involved with the trucking to work with the city.

The Agenda package also includes the two page petition that was delivered to Council at their March 25th session.

Though it's the final line of Ms. Miller's report that may bring the most interest and possible response from the residents.

Staff do not conclude that there is an issue sufficient enough to warrant further action.

As it is part of the Agenda for tonight those with concerns on the noise level will have opportunity once again to share them with council, that as part of the Public discussion period at the start of the session.
