Mud Slide closes Highway 16 east of McBride
Travel east of McBride has come to a halt as the Ministry of Transportation deals with a mudslide on Highway 16 near Valemount.
The slide which took place west of the Highway 5 junction, was first reported just before 1 PM, resulting in the closure of the Highway.
The next update on the situation is anticipated for 5 PM this evening.
Those with plans to travel east of Prince George over the weekend, can check the Drive BC website for updates and/or alternative routes to the east.
Update: The Highway was re-opened to traffic at 9 PM on Friday evening.
