Marine approaches to Haida Gwaii and North Coast under Hurricane Force Wind Warnings |
Late Tuesday afternoon, Environment Canada issued a Wind Warning for the North Coast and Haida Gwaii for Wednesday, calling for strong Southeasterly Winds of up 100 km/h to develop in the morning, the winds are then expected to increase to 110 km/h through the afternoon and into evening as the front comes ashore. Winds along coastal areas will ease after midnight and into early Thursday morning.

Along with the winds, which at times could be a damaging levels, rain accumulations starting Wednesday evening could provide for significant levels, with up to 150 mm anticipated through to Sunday.

The Marine Forecasts for the coastal regions of both Haida Gwaii and the North Coast also highlight the intensity of the winds to come, with Hurricane Force Wind Warnings issued for many offshore approaches.
