As our American neighbours prepare to observe their Thanksgiving Day on Thursday, the dawn of Friday morning will bring on the annual surge of online shopping as the Black Friday bargains bombard your televisions and computer screens.
The Black Friday shopping spree is something that Canadians have started to take part in increasing numbers over the last few years.
Not content to wait for our traditional day of Bargain hunting on Boxing Day, more and more of us are logging on and clicking away to help Santa knock down the shopping list for Christmas.
As they have in the past, the local Love Prince Rupert program is looking to try and stem some of that outward flow of money, by inviting North Coast residents to don some Plaid on Friday and do some local shopping, offering their support to their neighbours and friends who provide that extra touch that local business can deliver.
Some of the participating merchants in the program are offering up a hint as to some of their bargains through the Love Prince Rupert Facebook page.
As well, the Love Prince Rupert website provides for a comprehensive list of those local business owners that continue to provide goods and services in the Prince Rupert area.
The Plaid Friday alternative will run from 9 AM to 6 PM at participating businesses across the City.
