BC Ferries Fairview Terminal project complete

A nine month project that replace the support system for the ramp at the BC Ferries Terminal in Prince Rupert, as well as the construction of a new waiting area for walk on passengers has now been completed.

BC Ferries celebrated the wrap up to the work last week hailing the 12 million dollar project which included three enhancements to the existing Terminal and Dock facility at Fairview Bay.

With work now complete, BC Ferries has provided for a more comfortable covered and wider walkway, a new waiting room for walk-on passengers and a wider trestle for vehicles loading onto the vessel at Prince Rupert terminal.

Prince Rupert City Councillor Barry Cunningham, who is also a member of the BC Ferry Action Committee offered up his thoughts on the completion of the project and the importance of the Ferry System to the region.


“I am pleased to see investments like this and others in the northern and central routes,” ... “I believe BC Ferries is taking note of the importance of the ferry service to the residents of coastal B.C. as a transportation link and to our tourism trade.”

The project began in May of 2017 with an original target date of the end of December, however the final date of completion came at the end of February 2018.
