Five Days of Udder Fest launch Wednesday

It's Showtime at the Tom Rooney Playhouse, as
the 2018 edition of Udder Fest launches on Wednesday

The thespians of Prince Rupert's annual mid summer theatre festival Udder Fest will take to the stage tomorrow night, as the 20th edition of the popular local theatre event gets underway for a five day/night run at the Tom Rooney Playhouse.

This years showcase features six plays, some of then on multiple nights, as well as the always entertaining War of Wits and improv with Hook, Line and Snicker.

Shows set for their debut for this years event include:

Certainly a Heap of Erratically Silly Scenes -- An original presentation that channels some of the influences of Monty Python and brings the audience into the festivities.

Bad Things -- Funeral edition -- Think Martha Stewart in Goth and some helpful advice on how you can put the Fun into your funeral.

Locked Down -- Throw two men into jail who have never really had the experience before, introduce some of the more regular customers and follow the adventures along the way.

Way Over My Head -- A journalist sells out to the Soviet Union in the Cold War Fifties, though keeping his new status as servant for the Soviets runs into a few twists along the way, included in his troubles for his wife at work, an investigation from US Military investigation and the identity of a serial killer which all go to complicate his plans.

Ginger Tut -- The Castrati Chorus of Seal Cove bring to life the compositions of the 5th Earl of  Carnarvon, who delivered his Georgian Song Cycle in celebration of the discovery of Tutankhamen's tomb in 1922.  The works created after having been locked into his estate for three years as he crafted the the series of lyrical  ballads as penance his harangue of the Tut expedition.

Udder Fest also hosts the wrap up to Harbour Theatre's Kid Camp, with two shows set for Saturday afternoon to showcase the talents of this years class as they take you through the improvised Quest to Mend a Broken Heart.

Improv work also gets a showcase twice during the festival with Hook, Line and Snicker where quick thinking and comedic twists get a workout. Theatre Sports regulars Lyle D McNish,  Krista A Ediger, Treena Y Decker and Eric S Langille all return for this years fun, along for the ride (flight connections pending) will be Lucas Anders to make an Udder Fest return.

And the return of the always popular War of Wits makes for the finale to Saturday night's Udder Fest showcase as Lyle McNish and Chris Armstrong help to keep the improvised uproarious debate on local themes on track and kind of on message.

Afternoon theatre will bring the festival to a close on Sunday.
