7th Avenue East Road Rehabilitation project to start this week

As work continues to move forward on the Metlakatla Elders/Seniors Village
the city of Prince Rupert is ready to tackle the road, water and sewer
infrastructure along 7th Avenue East and Green street

With the Meltakatla Elders/Seniors Village at 7th Avenue East and Green Street now heading towards the home stretch, the City of Prince Rupert is ready to launch its rehabilitation of the 7th and Green area road infrastructure, with Bear Creek Construction the successful bidder for the work.

The City put the bid out for tender in April,  no further details were released related to the success of Bear Creek in receiving the contract.

In a notice to the public posted last week to the City of Prince Rupert website, the city noted that the full street rehabilitation program would see water, sewer, storm mains, curbs/gutters and sidewalks are replaced along with paving of the surface streets in the 400 block area of 7th Ave East.

Green Street will be closed to traffic for three months near 7th Ave East
as the city begins its road rehabilitation project in the 400 block of 7th

It's anticipated that the work will take a minimum of three months to complete which will take us to the start of September before the new look is revealed to the public, in the interim Green Street is to be closed by the City in that stretch of the 400 block of 7th.

With the road closure, other streets in the area will see increased traffic and the city advises that residents should obey all posted traffic signage and traffic controllers that are in the area.
