The two teams dropped the puck on their Best of Three playoff series on Saturday at the Upper Skeena Ice Arena in a tightly contested and spirited affair, marked by a penalty laden second period.
The Rampage got the scoring underway with the sole goal for the First period that an unassisted marker by Austin Weir, his goal at the 15 minute mark of the opening frame putting the Rampage ahead 1-0 heading into the tumultuous second period.
Ironically, it would be a period that saw 66 minutes in penalty called and also provided for the remainder of the scoring on the night.
The scoring started with the Wolverines tying things up two minutes into the second, a goal that was answered by the Rampage five minutes later when Austin Weir picked up his second marker of the game at 7:19, again unassisted.
Judd Repole added to the Rampage margin 21 seconds later with Kolton Chasse and Tyler Ostrom collecting the helpers, putting the Rupert squad ahead for good.
The Wolverines would make it close however with their second goal of the night at 17:54, though that would be the last mark on the score sheet in the points department.
The penalty section however, made for a much larger potential for writers cramp for the off ice officials. As noted previous, the middle frame saw some significant hostilities break out, with Double Minors for roughing, Misconducts and Fighting Majors making for the narrative of the nasty second period as some video on the Rampage Facebook page shows.
In total, the Ramapge were assessed 29 minutes of penalty time on the night, the Wolverines 43.
The two teams apparently got all of that animosity out of their system by the time the third period came around, which made for a penalty free twenty minutes as the clock counted down.

The two teams will pick things up on Saturday night, when the Rampage host the Wolverines for Game Two of their Best of Three, with a 7PM puck drop.
Should a game three be required, it will be a Sunday afternoon contest at 1 PM.

In other CIHL play over the weekend, Kitimat topped Smithers 6-4 in an elimination game on Friday, the victory setting up a home game for the Ice Demons on Saturday night, with the Terrace River Kings claiming the first win in their Best of Three series with Kitimat, knocking the visitors off by a score of 5-2.
Those two teams renew acquaintances on Saturday in Terrace.
In the Cariboo the Quesnel Kangaroos went into Williams Lake and took the first game of their Best of Three by a score of 4-3, they next play on Saturday.
