No timeline noted yet for rubble removal from early October fire in downtown Prince Rupert

It's been over three weeks now since Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue tackled another entry to the list of the city's major downtown fires, an evening and early morning blaze along Second Avenue West which in the end saw three businesses levelled and a number of Prince Rupert residents in apartments above left homeless.

Fortunately there were no fatalities or serious injuries from the October 5th fire, though it has left many apartment dwellers looking for new accommodations and much in the way  of rubble to be addressed in the heart of the city's downtown.

The fire which drew a steady stream of curious onlookers has been chronicled through online forums for weeks and as the weeks have started to pass by, a few are noting that there has been little done in the area since the buildings came down as part of the fire fighting plan for the night.

So far however, there has been no indication from the City of Prince Rupert through its range of information options as to when the site may be attended to and the use of Sixth Street will be allowed once again.

Once removed, the lot will join what is a growing number of empty spaces in the downtown core, many of them the site of previous fires in the area and lots which have remained empty for years and in some cases decades.
