Once again this year, as it was in 2020, the 2021 version of the Relay for life will be the Relay at home, with participants in Prince Rupert joining others in many other communities to keep the Relay tradition moving forward.
And while the usual day of shared community and activity at the Prince Rupert Middle School may be delayed for another year, the opportunity to participate continues to bring Prince Rupert and area residents together, with the Relay now moving into the Age of Apps and a bit of technology to track your movement on the day.
One of the most moving moments of the annual event is the Luminary Lap, which honours those who are fighting cancer, have survived it and to remember and pays tribute to those who have passed on.
As was last year, Saturday the lap will continue, going mobile and expanding beyond the track at PRMS.
Starting at 4 PM from the parking lot of the Lester Centre of the Arts the participants of the Luminary Lap and their supporters will travel in a cavalcade through the city, offering a chance for residents to share in the day and remember those of the past.
