An opportunity to run the Rushbrook Trail is coming up next month as Kaien Trails prepare for the 2022 edition of the Trailblazer Run which is scheduled for September 10th.
Volunteers took to the popular community trail which is maintained by Kaien Trails last weekend, making use of the good weather to make the waterfront trail on the city's east side race ready for next moth.
The Trailblazer event which was rescheduled from it original date in August, has three options a 10 km, 5 km and Kids Fun Run.
As the organization notes in its event page, the race takes participants through their signature trail, as well as the next project that they hope to develop shortly at McClymont Park.
The 10 kilometer race will start at the bridge over the Seal Cove lagoon and take runners along the waterfront on the newly reconstructed Rushbrook Trail, up the length of Hays Creek on the more rugged McClymont Park Trail before returning to Rushbrook by way of Rotary Waterfront Park, and Cow Bay.The routes for the event can be reviewed from the map below:

This has been a big for the Prince Rupert recreation society, on Tuesday they hosted Federal Cabinet Minister Harjit Sajjan for a funding announcement that delivered 500,000 dollars towards their Cloudberry Trail initiative.
