The Coast Guard launched their call for Assistant Lightkeepers this week.
The opportunity one to allow the Coast Guard to build an inventory of keepers to fill in when the regular Lightkeepers take a vacation or have a need for time off for other reasons.
The career is unique in that you are as they say on your own island in remote locations, and self sufficiency would seem a key.
Among the duties while on the job:

In British Columbia, Candidates who are hired must be willing and able to travel from their place of residence to the designated point of departure (Victoria, Prince Rupert, Bella Bella and Port Hardy) at their own expense.

There's no urgency towards a decision though, the job opportunity closes at the end of December this year.
