A response from Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue captured the most attention from our work these last seven days, making for the most read item of the week.
Civic items also claimed much interest, from the Tuesday night situation at the Montreal Circle Reservoir that now has the city on a BOIL WATER notice, to plans for a roundabout at McBride and Second, infrastructure was a hot topic for many in the community this week.
Our notes on some new parking spaces atop the bluffs of Cow Bay gained a large audience, as did our look at some success for School District 52 which has gained 10 million dollars in funding from the province for a new daycare centre.
The top story of the week however, followed Emergency Responders to 7th Avenue West.
West side structure fire Tuesday claimed one life, sent others to Prince Rupert Regional Hospital -- Our review of a call to service for the PRFD related to a structure fire in Prince Rupert this week gained significant attention. The fire on Seventh West sadly claimed one life and sent two others to Hospital. (posted October 20 , 2023)

Mayor Pond explains Tuesday night water issue to CBC Vancouver as "Armageddon like" -- The first public comments from Prince Rupert Mayor Herb Pond on Tuesday's water emergency at Montreal Circle, went to a Vancouver based reporter who provided a detailed review of the Tuesday night activity. As we noted as we followed the civic reports that night, the situation impacted more than just the Crestview area and has resulted in the city once again returning to a BOIL WATER Notice. Lax Kxeen Elementary School is the location selected for new Daycare spaces for Prince Rupert -- The Prince Rupert School District will receive more than 10.5 million dollars towards construction of a new Daycare facility adjacent to Lax Keen Elementary School. (posted October 16, 2023)
City's newest parking spaces now in use along First Avenue East -- The paving's been complete for a few weeks now and while there's been no official notice or grand opening, some new parking spaces overlooking Cow Bay are now open for use. (posted October 20, 2023)
Round a bout Rebellion percolates in Prince Rupert -- The announcement earlier this month from North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice for a roundabout at McBride and Second West continues to make for much discussion on a number of the city's many social media forums. (posted October 20, 2023)
