The new parking spaces created on Fist Avenue East are now in use |
A final layer of pavement and some barriers for definition have carved out the newest parking spaces for the Cow Bay Area and while there has been no official opening or ribbon cutting, the area overlooking Cow Bay has been in use now for over two weeks.
The project was first proposed to City Council in June, part of a proposed property disposition, that was subsequently cancelled by the City.

The second half of the development however is still to be put in place, and while the area for the proposed staircase down to the main parking area below is in the staging area, so far the actual installation work has yet to take place.
Two other parking proposals were noted as under consideration for the Cow Bay Area by late August.
One which would have created a parking area in the berm area adjacent to the Prince Rupert Yacht Club, the other the creation of parking spaces along the entranceway to the RONA in the District.
Neither of those proposals appear to have seen any momentum to this point.

We have no money to build the stairs the city mentioned!
